Camarones is a community located 17 km south of the city of Riohacha, municipality to which it belongs; in the department of La Guajira, north of Colombia. In this place streams and adjacent streams flow, flooding a vast terrain known as the Navío Quebrado marsh and Laguna Grande that in the rainy months, the water overflows opening the coastal lines (or mouths) allowing the entry of sea water. This coastal mangrove estuary is the Natural National Park of the Flamingos fauna and flora Sanctuary, a temporary habitat for pink flamingos, which obtain that color due to the consumption of artemis. The beaches of Camarones are located on the right margin of the natural park; They are wide and extensive, with white sand and abundant vegetation of palm trees and shrubs typical of the region.
